Peter is a priest of the Archdiocese of Mbarara, with a BA in Theology, and an MA and PhD in Church Law. He has wide experience in managing higher education and teaching, and researching into Development and African Studies. His areas of interest include social and environmental justice, and reconciliation.

Venie holds a BEd in Science, an MA in Education, and is Associate of the Faculty of Education, University of London. He was a Lecturer in a Teacher Training College and served as Deputy Commissioner in the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA). He retired in 2005 and is now working as a farmer.

Patricia is teacher by profession and human development activist. Her dream is for a world where we believe that we all count. She believes in the philosophy of “I am because we are”. AVA has formed her and she believes in a future with AVA, guided by this: We shall do what counts and not count what we do.

Alphonse holds a Diploma in Education, and a BA and MA in Journalism and Communication. He lectured in Mass Communication at Makerere University. He has worked as Senior Media Advisor with the Association of Rwanda Journalists and also as Senior Media Advisor with Rwanda Media Commission.

Robert is a priest of the Archdiocese of Mbarara. He has a BA in Ethics and Development Studies, a BA in Philosophy and an MA in Theological and Religious Studies. He is a bridge-builder across different cultures, capable of putting himself at the level of the people he is dealing with. He brings to AVA young blood!

Agnes holds a BA and MA in Development Studies. She has passion for gender related issues and works with women in seeking out solutions to their problems from an African perspective. She has done research and has carried out activities at grassroots level. She is a cofounder of AVA.
